Our Baby Girl is *1* Today!

Our beautiful baby girl is one today! Just writing that first line brings a little sting of tears to my eyes. As her birthday has been approaching, I have been thinking about the bountiful blessings this past year has bestowed on our family. Johanna is a precious gift from God.

Sometimes when I think about how much I love my baby girl, it almost hurts a little bit. Having a child teaches you a new, different kind of love. One that swells up so high inside you that you almost feel like you will burst.

Johanna has even taught Vince and I to love each other in a different way and has brought us closer together - I see the caring father he has become and know how tender he is with his little girl (of course, it is not surprising because he is caring and tender with me, too). He sees me *hopefully* as one tought little mama who had the strength to give birth to that little bundle of joy a year ago and he knows that I would do anything for our family.

This new era in my life - that of wife and mother - and it has been nothing but spectacular. It is a happy sequel to everything before - I was blessed to have such wonderful parents and siblings, meet the love of my life at 18 and then was lucky enough to love Vince's family as my own. However, becoming a mother is better than I ever expected, and I expected a lot.

I am so glad to share these thoughts with all of you and I know that many people share my joy and thanks that Johanna entered our world. Together let's thank God for creating such a happy, healthy little angel. We love you Johanna Cecilia!

Pictures from the wedding!

Here are some pictures from the wedding! I can't believe it, but I don't have one pictures of Andy and Rachel together. I should have handed my camera to someone who was watching the ceremony to take some photos of the lovely bride and handsome groom. I do have a cute video of them cutting the cake that I will try to post soon. What a lovely day and such a FUN wedding!

Welcome to Missouri!

I am finally getting around to posting pictures of our new house! They are in backwards order - darn it! Anyway, here is a virtual tour of our new Brookside home.

The only bathroom is on the second floor and is in need of some updating. It is a nice size and has two entrances - one from the sunroom below and the other from the hallway.
Here is the sunroom - it has 8 giant windows and will be a nice playroom area. We are going to paint all of the trim a bright white and have picked out a wall color that is a soft buttery yellow.
Here is the 3rd bedroom. It also has a door to the sunroom. It is being painted right now and our goal is to get it done by the end of the month - we'll see. I am repainting all of the trim and it seems to need at least two coats. The window trim is taking 4-5 coats where the dark wood was. Vince is painting the doors - there are 4 doors in this room. We have our work cut out for us but it is already starting to look really nice. We are going to paint all of the bedrooms the same neutral color. We are trying to pick it out - we've already tested 3 colors in this room!
Here is our bedroom - we each have our own closet! Yay!
The other side of our bedroom. Nice any spacious!
Here is the staircase that leads into the kitchen - we have two staircases, which is really cool.
Here is the kitchen - we are already designing a new kitchen. It will be our 1st big project. We are thinking cream cabinets.
The view of the kitchen from the butler's pantry.
Here is the butler's pantry view from the dining room. See that door? It leads to a mudroom. We want to knock out that mudroom and expand the kitchen into it. We also want to put a 1/2 bath somewhere in the butler pantry area.
Here is the dormer windows in the dining room. This area is really big and bright!
View of the dining room from the living room.
Fat dog obstructing the view - oh wait. I guess you can see the entry way. Look at that big door!
Living room - we already rearranged this space to make for more seating. It is working nicely.
Here is an up close shot of our porch - I have it decorated for fall and it looks nice. Vince ripped out most of the bushes around the house so he could patch up that mortar on the stone foundation. We are trying to make sure no pesky mice get in here.
View from the street. Who want to help with landscaping next year?
View of the park directly across the street - can you imagine Johanna sledding down that hill when she is older?
More of the park - you can't see but there are tennis courts up there (where Kujoe likes to poop) and a playground with slides, swings, and a giant sand pit.
Here is a view of the 6 mile Trolley Trail that is 1/2 block from our house. It goes to the Plaza and out South. It is really fun to walk and jog on.
Here are some cute Crestwood shops that are two blocks from our house. If you keep going East (left side of the picture) you would be at Rockhurst in about a mile and half. If you go West a few blocks, you will be at our favorite park - Loose Park.
