Learning to Use a Spoon

We're still a ways away but making progress and becoming interested!

When Avery Came to Town!

Johanna and Avery were recently reunited. Renee and Aaron spent some time with us and we got to get the girls together. Let's just say they had a love, hate relationship. One minute they were friends and then the next they were hitting or throwing blocks at each other. I'm sure Renee and I were the exact same way when we were this little.

15th Months **Already!!**

Johanna had her 15th month check-up today. She weighs 19 lbs. 9 oz. and is 29" long. She went from the 25th percentile for height and weight to the 10th percentile. I knew she was little, but this was pretty shocking to me. However, my pediatrician assured me that she is very healthy and just a little petitekins. (She didn't necessarily call her a petitekins - I did.) I called Vince to tell him after the checkup and he asked what her head circumference was - I forgot to look but when I did, I couldn't believe it. Her head is in the 75th percentile. It makes me wonder how she can keep her head up at all! She definitely gets the big head from her dad. Ha ha!

Johanna is starting to learn more signs and words. Her newest signs include "book", "banana", "please" and "Daddy." Her newest words are "shoes","baby", "more", "poop poop" and "cracker." She also is trying to say "koojoo" but she usually just says "chh, chh" for Kujoe. She also still calls Vince "mama" and I am "MOMMY!" She also tried to say "Emmy" and just LOVES AUNT EMMY!

The last few weeks have been cranky weeks. She is getting all four of her 1st molars in at the same time and I can't believe how big those teeth are. That means she has been pooping like crazy, which developed into some really bad diaper rash. Now she has a cold to top it all off and has been pretty tired and cranky. One afternoon she cried for over an hour straight. Very unlike the happy Johanna we all know. However, I would probably be a cranky pants is my butt and mouth hurt at the same time.

She loves to run around and play with her toys. If you tell her "let's play blocks" then she will run over and get them. She will also run a get books if you say "want to read a book?" A funny story - we went to the library last week and she was running around making the book sign. Then when we were playing, she went over and pulled her changing pad out of the diaper bag. She said, "poop poop" and tried to spread the changing pad on the ground and lay on it like she was going to get a diaper change. She didn't even have a poopy diaper! It amazes me the things that she knows.

She is liking her new day care - somedays she still cries when I drop her off but other days she is ready to play. Getting up at 6:30 and playing all morning is making her pretty tired, but we are starting to get in to the new morning routine. I like dropping her off and picking her up from daycare.

We can't wait until the weather warms up so we can take more walks and play at the park. Everyone at our house is getting cabin fever!!!
(Notice the cottage cheese that Johanna threw onto KuJoe? Let me tell you, getting cottage cheese off a dog is not as easy as you'd think!)

Baby Time Update

New Year's Family Pose
Johanna is enjoying her new rocking chair she got for Christmas.
Mommy cut her bangs a little too much. Oops!
Time to squish those cute, fat cheeks. She has also four molars (2 on top, 2 on bottom) coming through! Such a big girl!
Playing with the strange and funny toys that Mommy makes.

Mommy and J-Baby on New Years. Welcome 2010!

Already throwing tantrums. In this photo she wanted a cracker REALLY bad! Cracker is her new favorite sign.

This Baby Can Dance!

Christmas in Girard

Let's break the ice - Grandpa Larry brings out the whipped cream. Johanna is intrigued.
Hey, what is this stuff?
Johanna is going through a stranger-danger phase, so to get her out of her shell, Fr. Larry tries to lure her in with a fork full or whipped cream. Grandma Kathie waits eagerly to refill the giant whipped cream bowl.
The whipped cream experiment seems to be working - Johanna hesitantly swipes some whipped cream.
Now it is Grandma's turn to feed the baby some yummy.
Grandpa's turn!
Evidence of the white whipped cream.
I love you Grandma! And your sugar, too!
Hey Grandpa - help me get this lid off. I need more sugar!!!
Time for gifts! Look at the beautiful quilt that Grandma made me. Gorgeous!
Yay! A baby doll!

This looks fun! I want to play. Snuggle with my baby!
